Credit Checking - Cheap Mortgage Deals
Before lenders consider lending you credit they will undertake a credit check. A credit check determines your credit history whether you have any CCJs, defaults or outstanding unpaid bills.
A credit check will be carried out even if you are applying for a department store credit card. If you are turned down for a loan or hire purchase agreement it may be that your recent credit history has become too busy within a short space of term causing your new lenders to worry that you will be unable to make the repayments. If you are turned down for store credit it will not necessarily mean you have a bad credit report.
If you have a history of bad credit resulting in a CCJ and you would like to apply for a mortgage, you will need to approach a lender specialising in bad credit mortgages. If your credit history is slightly impared, you may find a high street lender, building society or bank, will still allow you to take out a mortgage with them but it will be at a higher interest rate to reflect the extra risk the lender is taking.
You could contact the following credit reference agencies for a credit report; Callcredit, Equifax and Experian.
Callcredit Plc, Consumer Care, PO Box 491, Leeds LS3 1WZ.
