The raising of the stamp duty threshold to £120,000 earlier in 2005 will have come as a relief to many would be home owners, especialy first time buyers and those wanting to purchase in property hot spots. Stamp duty is calculated by the following home purchase value;
- £120,000 = nil
- £120,001 - £250,000 = 1%
- Above £250,000 = 3%
- Above £500,000 = 4%
How Much Is Stamp Duty?
